What It Is
The SingHealth-IHiS Electronic Health lntelligence System (eHints) is SingHealth's Enterprise Analytic Platform which serves the analysis and reporting needs of Business, Finance and Clinical users.
It features a single enterprise data repository that integrates information from multiple healthcare transactional systems including Administration, Clinical and Ancillary systems. This provides healthcare staff with highly integrated and quality information.
The improved analytical tools enabled users to perform 'self-service' reporting and analysis. The data slice-and-dice capabilities and geo-spatial analytics enable users to perform their analysis at ease and efficiently. In FY17, eHints interfaced with Business Research Analytics Insights Network (BRAIN) to incorporate predictive modelling to assist end users in their operations.
Background
As of year 2018, eHints has been rolled out to Singapore General Hospital, Sengkang General Hospital, KK Women's and Children's Hospital, National Heart Centre Singapore, Singapore National Eye Centre, National Cancer Centre Singapore, National Dental Centre Singapore and SingHealth Polyclinics.
eHints is scheduled for implementation at Changi General Hospital, SingHealth Community Hospitals and National Neuroscience Institute.
How It Works
eHints cleanses, consolidates and standardises data before uploading the information for decision-support. The quality information generated is hosted on a web-based business intelligence tool which can be easily accessed by healthcare staff via a secured network.
eHints data granularity and 'self-service' drill-down capabilities allow users to trend, perform statistical analysis and potentially scrutinise, identify, isolate unusual occurrences in day-to-day hospital administration or clinical conditions.
Key data are displayed on dashboards, providing management with timely information.
Benefits
For Healthcare StaffWith a single repository containing all business and clinical patient data, eHints streamlines quality reporting and analysis, enabling healthcare staff to more easily access and analyse data on the effectiveness of patient treatments and medication.
Easier access to quality data also translates to improved operational efficiency, staff productivity, resource allocation and management of costs. Users now spend only 20% of their time on data preparation, compared to 80% previously.
The solution's 'self-service' analytical tools have also facilitated clinical research on long term chronic and major diseases and allowed the IT department to focus efforts on other projects that could significantly improve patient outcomes.
For Patients
eHints' analysed information has contributed to action plans such as minimising overcrowding at A&E units and reducing out-of-pocket healthcare expenses for patients.
eHInts’ near real-time wait time for triage and consultation at A&E manages patients’ expectation on waiting time.
