What It Is

Nursing Home IT Enablement Program (NHELP) IT-enables nursing homes to improve patient care and enhance operational efficiency through the use of appropriate IT systems. It provides nursing homes with a suite of IT Systems based on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), focusing mainly in the area of Patient Management and Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The module records, monitors and manages the care of residents living in residential aged care facilities.
Background
NHELP was piloted at Singapore Christian Home in April 2015 and has been further implemented in another 33 nursing homes. How It Works
NHELP's SaaS includes interfaces that enable connectivity and inter-operability with the IT Systems in Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Health Holding (MOHH) and Agency for Integrated Care (AIC). It is connected to the ILTC Referral Management System (IRMS), ILTC Portal and National Electronic Health Records (NEHR), supporting patient management, clinical documentation and human resource functions.
Key features of NHELP include sending automatic messages and setting alerts to prompt staff to complete the necessary assessments and follow up plans of incidents. Resident information, once entered will auto- populate in all relevant forms, care plans and audit reports throughout the system.
NHELP runs on common browsers and supports mobile devices, so clinicians can access patients' medical records anytime, anywhere.

Benefits
For Healthcare Staff
NHELP has greatly reduced the time nurses spent on information retrieval. With NHELP, it now takes less than 10 minutes, as compared to over 25 minutes previously, to sort through patients' records for hospital A&E admission. This increases staff productivity allowing more time to be spent on direct patient care.
Documenting patients' records online allows doctors and nurses to easily access patient records for timelier decision-making and better care coordination among institutions.

For PatientsThe online clinical modules of NHELP provide detailed documentation of a patient's condition, facilitating care planning to enhance patient care. In addition, NHELP is linked to NEHR which improves consistency of patients' records.
